Union Depot is a major transportation hub in Lower-town St. Paul with connection trains, light rail, bus, taxi, and rental cars.
The current Union Depot building was commissioned in 1913 after the original depot burned down. The last passenger train left Union Depot on April 30, 1971, and the United States Postal Service purchased most of the property in 1977 and used it until 2010. The Ramsey County Regional Railroad Authority purchased the property to be used as a hub for the light rail and started restoration in 2011 and reopened on December 8, 2012.
